After a few years of seemingly no news, airsoft is again under attack in Massachusetts. A bill similar to H.3476, which the community managed to fight off, has been introduced in the House by Representative Daniel R. Cullinane of Dorchester, who also introduced H.3476. This time around, the bill is known as H.2040.
Here's the full text of the bill so you can read it for yourself: https://malegislature.gov/Bill...
What you need to know: H.2040:
1) Redefines "imitation firearm" to be anything that replicates or could be perceived as an actual firearm, air rifle or BB gun unless it
A) Is any color other than black, blue, silver or aluminum
AND
B) Has a permanent 1 inch wide orange stripe running the length of the barrel on both sides and wrapping around the front
AND
C) has a barrel at least 1 inch in diameter that is
permanently sealed/solid
2) Makes it illegal to sell, import, manufacture, hold for sale or distribute any imitation firearm within Massachusetts unless it is
A) solely for the purpose of being brought out of state for interstate commerce
OR
B) Solely for lawful use in a theatrical production (film, television, stage show, etc)
The bill has been referred to the committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security and has a hearing scheduled for 8/28 from 10 AM to 3 PM at the State House.
In the next day or two I'll have a post up detailing what you can do to help fight this bill. In the meantime, please spread the word and if you contact any legislators, PLEASE make sure to be polite and professional. If you attend the hearing (As I believe it's public), please avoid wearing any camouflage or anything tactical. It is of utmost importance that we leave a good impression of our community
