The Den

Get a glimpse of The Den in this quick video.

DenOps

The Airsoft Den takes a different approach to the standard airsoft milsim.

If you're new to milsims in airsoft, they are events that typically enforce strict rules on uniform, equipment, and gameplay, to provide an immersive experience to players, simulating a military environment.

DenOps, which are The Airsoft Den's story-based operations, are an opportunity for inexperienced and experienced players to get a taste of the bigger milsims, without requiring any special gear or adhering to strict rulesets.

DenOps are long-form events, consisting of 3 to 4 blocks of 3-hour gameplay in a single day. These events are focused around a storyline, with longer objectives that require the team to work together. These events also often include role-players, specialized props, technology, and special effects.

First Time Players

Are you new to airsoft? Never been to an open play? That's great! We're here to give you the information you need to make your first day out a success.

What to Bring Here's a quick checklist of what you'll absolutely need for play:

  • Waiver - Not something you bring, but you need to have it filled out online before you begin play. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must sign for you.
  • Airsoft Gun - We rent and sell guns and masks at the field, but most players bring their own. Not sure what to get? Contact us and we would be happy to make a recommendation and even pre-order a system for you, should you choose to buy it from us.
  • Biodegradable BBs - If they came with your gun, they're probably plastic. We try to minimize our footprint on the land and utilize BBs that degrade over time. Bio BBs are available in our pro shop and from many fine online retailers.
  • Mask/Googles - Those under 18 MUST wear a full-face, hard mask or full seal, ANSI rated goggles and a hard lower face shield. We have these available for rent or purchase at the field.
  • Barrel Cover - We take safety very seriously, and require that players have a barrel cover on their gun while in the staging area. This protects players from accidental discharge. A sock with a rubber band around it works, or you can purchase a barrel cover in our pro shop.
  • Dead Rag - All you need is a piece of cloth that's at least 12"x12" (ish) and red. We have red bandanas we sell at the field, but a dish towel or shop towel works just as well.
  • Water - Players are running hard, usually with lots of gear, so it's important to stay hydrated
  • Long Sleeves and Pants - Technically we won't stop you from going on the field in shorts, but it's not going to feel good when BBs hit your bare skin. There are also some wooded areas on our field, so keeping legs covered from brush is always a good idea. We do NOT require camo BDUs, but many players do choose to wear them. We have plenty of players that come out in jeans and a sweatshirt and they do just fine!
  • Sturdy Shoes - You may encounter rugged terrain, so close-toed shoes are required. Sneakers are fine, but many players choose boots for their extra comfort and support.
  • Lunch and Snacks (optional) - You're probably going to get hungry, so come prepared. We have lunch available on site, but many players like to bring their own food.

What NOT to bring

  • "Real Steel" guns - We don't allow guns on our field or in staging. We ask that those who may be concealed carrying leave their firearms locked secured in their vehicle.
  • Real Knives - Sometimes rubber or fake knives are used as props, but leave the real knives at home or in a locked vehicle. Many of our players carry utility knives, and that's okay, but for safety reasons we ask that you not take them on the field with you.
  • Explosives - Fireworks and other pyrotechnics are not allowed at our field, as they pose both a safety and fire-hazard. There are certain approved airsoft grenades that are approved. If you ever have any questions or clarification, please contact us.
  • Bad Attitude or Unsportsmanlike Conduct - We pride ourselves on being a fun, friendly, and safe field for players of all ages and experiences. Players at the Den conduct themselves with honor, and we are very proud of that.

General

Rules aren't always the most exciting, but they keep things fun and fair, so we take them pretty seriously at the Den. If this seems like a lot to review, don't worry. Our Referees will review all of the important rules at the beginning of each open play. If you have any questions regarding rules, please feel free to contact us at any time.

  • Our marshals and staff will be available throughout the day to answer any questions and to take appropriate action should any rules be broken.
  • All players must accept a marshal's decision as final, and remember.... it is a game!
Check-in Procedure
  • Upon arrival at The Den Airsoft, please park your vehicle in the designated parking area. Please do not park in the grass unless asked to do so. (Note all vehicles are left at owner's risk).
  • All real steel firearms to to safely locked in your vehicle. Absolutely no real steel firearms will be allowed in the staging area or game play area at The Den Airsoft. Breaking this rule will result in a permanent ban from all Airsoft Den events.
  • Check in at registration in our building on site. You'll be asked to register, pay admission, and complete and sign a waiver if you haven't done so online prior to arrival. Players under the age of 18 must have a waiver form signed by their parent or guardian before they will be allowed to play. Online waivers are available on our website. You can also pre-register and pay online prior to the event. This will save you time at check in.
  •  Anyone who has a medical condition of any kind we ask that you inform the attendant during registration and fill out a medical info card. This could include such things as heart problems, asthma or allergies.
  • Rental equipment is available on site for $25 per day. Equipment includes choice of rifle, magazine, battery, a set of armbands, and a protective face mask and goggles. Availability is limited. First come first served.
  • After registration you will observe a safety briefing covering all of our safety rules, along with various rules and guidelines for the day's activities. This briefing is mandatory for all participants.
  • Reusable armbands are required for all players and complete sets are available for $5.

If you bring your own airsoft weapons you must take them to the chrono station where one of our referee's will chronograph your weapon and tag it appropriately. Weapons exceeding applicable FPS and rate of fire limits set by The Den Airsoft and our insurance carrier will not be allowed on site. Random chrono checks may take place throughout the day. Weapons that have been tampered with after chrono are required to go thru the chrono station prior to going back on the field. If a weapon has been tampered with and does not match the original chrono tag the player risks being removed from play and in some circumstances banned from play at The Den Airsoft.

FPS Limits

Chronographed using a .30 BB

CQB Class – Indoor Semi Auto– 300 FPS / 1.25J Field Class – Semi / Full Auto - 350 FPS / 1.7J DMR Class - Approved Semi-Auto Locked Rifles, at least 32" overall length – 365 FPS / 1.9J Sniper Class – Approved Bolt Action– 400 FPS / 2.3J

These limits are the maximum allowed with the site chronograph and there is no additional leeway. Any reading over the limit will mean that the weapon cannot be used.

  • Semi locked must not be capable of full auto and must be approved for the DMR class by The Den Airsoft.
  • Anything up to 1.25J has a Minimum Engagement Distance of 10ft
  • Anything between 1.25 and 1.7J has a Minimum Engagement Distance of 25ft.
  • Anything between 1.7 and 1.9J has a Minimum Engagement Distance of 50ft
  • Anything over 1.9J has a Minimum Engagement Distance of 100ft
  • Biodegradable bb’s only are allowed at The Den Airsoft.
  • Max bb weight for snipers is .46. Everything else has a limit of .36g. Shooting at a higher weight is a safety hazard and ground for removal from the field.
  • Rate of fire is capped at 25 rps. At The Den Airsoft we do not condone overshooting players. Overshooting is unsportsmanlike and does not keep things fun or fair.
Safety Rules

Your safety is of paramount importance to us. Shown below are the main site and safety rules which must be complied with at all times. This will ensure that your day with us will be enjoyable and safe. A mobile phone will be available to call emergency services in the event of an accident and there is a comprehensive first aid kit provided on site as well as qualified first-aiders being available.

Protective Gear
  • Goggles or full face masks must be worn on site at all times except in the safe zone area. All eyewear must conform to ANSI Z87.1. Full seal eye protection is required by all players. If your eye protection is a glasses-type, it must have the full-seal gasket installed.
  • We advise full face protection. Any person under the age of 18 MUST wear a full face mask, or the equivalent.
  • If a player is found not wearing the correct eye / face protection they will be asked to leave the site. It is your eyesight that you will be risking.
  • Approved eyewear / face masks are available for purchase or rent on site, but availability is not guaranteed unless pre-ordered.
  • It is strongly advised that head protection, long sleeves, long pants, and proper all-terrain boots be worn at The Den Airsoft. This is at your discretion.
  • No open toed shoes allowed.
Weapons
  • All magazines are to be removed and weapons discharged before entering the safe area. All weapons are to be placed on safety while you are in the safe zone area. Any person deliberately firing an airsoft weapon in the safe zone will be asked to leave the site.
  • All weapons are to have an approved barrel obstruction device (ie. Barrel sock, barrel plug) at all times in the safe zone. These are available for sale at The Airsoft Den.
  • All weapons are to be chronographed prior to entering the field. A tag will be placed on your weapon to designate what class it falls under.
  • HPA rigs must be able to be locked out using a tamper evident zip tie provided by The Airsoft Den. If your HPA rig is not able to be locked out it will not be allowed at The Airsoft Den. When chrono'd, your regulator's PSI will be written on the chrono tag. If at any point in the day, your regulator is found to not match the PSI written on the tag, you will be asked to leave the field for the remainder of the day. A second incident will result in a ban from the field.
Game Procedure
  • In the event of an emergency or any other reason why a game must be stopped a signal (horn) will inform everyone to stop play.
  • If you hear the phrase “blind man” or “real world” you are to immediately place your weapons on the ground on safe.
  • CQB / MED’s: If your opponent is at close range you should give him/her the opportunity to surrender by calling out “safety kill”. You must be within the 10ft MED and have your opponent “dead to rights”. This means that you must be looking down your sights and your opponent must be unprepared to defend themselves.
  • If you and an opponent come face to face within the 10ft MED you should call “parlay”. At this time both players must disengage an equal, safe distance and then reengage.
  • Deliberate head shots at close range will result in that player being warned and/or penalized. Head shots are only permitted when there is no other part of your opponent visible and they are not at close range.
  • Blind fire is not permitted; weapons must not be hung around corners and discharged blindly, as this could result in a player being hit several times in the face at close range. Players need to be able to identify their target. If a player signifies that they have been hit and raises their arm, no further deliberate shots should be taken upon that person. This does not include ammunition that may already be in flight. You may not shoot or be shot through a gap, hole, or crack that is not large enough to fit your head through. Doing so is considered blind fire.
  • Full Automatic fire is not allowed inside any building or any structure with a 4ft or higher wall. You may shoot full auto out of a building as long as the end of your barrel breaks the plane of a window or door, so it is visible by a player who may be on the other side of the building.
  • When you are hit, shout "hit, hit, hit" loudly. Signify that you are out by placing your dead rag on your head, and raising your arms and/or weapon above your head. If no medic rules are in place you may begin to move toward the respawn zone if applicable. When turning a corner or going around objects that obstruct vision, you can call out “dead man walking” to warn other players that you are not still in the game. If you are in the thick of a fire fight feel free to wait on the field with your hands raised until it is clear to pass.
  • Absolutely do not call other players hits. If you suspect a player of cheating please bring it to the attention of the Head Referee.
  • If you are a confirmed cheater at The Airsoft Den you will be asked to leave the field. The Airsoft Den utilizes a peer review board to deal with the identification of cheaters. Call your hits!
  • Overkill – avoid overkill at all times, it only takes one round to eliminate someone - there is no need to continue shooting, although a certain amount of BB's may still be in flight after the initial hit.
  • Dead men do not talk. If you are out of the game you may not under any circumstance relay information to your teammates.
Grenades
  • Only cold burning smoke grenades are allowed at The Airsoft Den. You may only use smoke or BB grenades that have been approved for use by The Airsoft Den.
  • Smoke grenades are available for sale but are not available for anyone under the age of 18.
  • If a smoke grenade is activated, do not attempt to pick it up as it will be very hot and could cause serious burns if touched. If thunder b’s or BB grenades are used, and do not detonate after you have thrown them - LEAVE THEM ALONE - DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PICK THEM UP!
  • Never throw grenades at another player. Grenades must be thrown below the waist or dropped thru a window. Our buildings all have simulated roofs, so grenades can’t be thrown into a building except thru a doorway or window. (No smoke grenades inside or next to structures)
  • All grenades, whether projectile or noise devices, have a kill radius of 10ft. If a grenade goes off in a small room then all people in that room are considered hit. If there is a solid wall or cover between the player and the grenade they are not considered hit.
  • RPG or Grenade Launcher projectiles have a kill radius of 15 feet. If they land in a building all people inside of building are considered “killed”. If a launched projectile hits the wall of the building, all players inside that room/building will be considered "killed".
  • No trip wire devices are allowed at The Airsoft Den.
  • Our marshals and staff will be available throughout the day to answer any questions and to take appropriate action should any rules be broken.
  • All players must accept a marshal's decision as final, and remember.... it is a game!
Site Information
  • The combat game area is defined by paint and boundary tape. Players should not play in any other area, or outside of the boundary tape.
  • Do not climb trees, do not deliberately damage shrubs, trees, plants or structures.
  • Some areas of the land may be slippery and uneven and players should take adequate care when entering or playing in these areas, particularly in wet weather.
  • Be aware that there may be fallen trees, poison ivy, logs, brambles and other obstructions on the ground and care should be taken when moving around them.
  • Be aware of branches and beams that are at head height.
  • Structures have been built to enhance the playing enjoyment but are not permanent and adequate care should be taken not to interfere with them so as to render them unsafe.
  • Props are not to be moved unless instructed in the game rules.
  • You are not allowed under any circumstances to shoot at any birds or animals that may be present. Anyone found doing so will be banned from the site. Knives/bayonets are not permitted on site.
  • Profanity is not allowed at The Airsoft Den. We are proud of the fact that we are a family friendly airsoft field. Please keep your language and actions PG!
  • Absolutely no physical altercations will be allowed at The Airsoft Den. You will be asked to leave the facility if you are involved in a physical altercation.
  • No verbal abuse or arguments will be allowed at The Airsoft Den.
