NATO is eager to make headway after running into issues in the southern Caucasus regions with defeats in Rostov-on-don, losing ground in Balkaria and the conflict in Grozny continuing to escalate..
Operations Command has decided on a new plan of sidestepping the conflict areas and instead focusing on a new assault to push further into the Russian homeland to disrupt the enemies ability to conduct defensive operations and supply themselves. Their first goal: seize at spearhead at Saratov
Saratov lies just north west across the border from NATO controlled-Kazakhstan and is just up the Volga river from Astrakhan and Volgograd allowing for follow-on resupply and reenforcements.
Saratov will not be an easy target; it's home to FSB and MVD garrisons of veteran troops who have been until recently battling the Islamic insurgency in the region. Russian forces will be prepared, intelligence has advised them of an imminent attack as many extremists have started moving south to be armed and trained by NATO advising units.
Still, NATO pushes forward with their plan to seize a SPEARHEAD at SARATOV and open up a new front in the war.
